I (Jewels) used to tend bar at the Seawell Ballroom in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, while I was getting my cosmetology training. It’s a beautiful and versatile room that I have seen decorated more ways than I could possibly count. They do weddings, fund-raisers, and corporate events, to name a few.
When they asked me to co-produce their first-ever fashion show/fund-raiser to benefit the costume department, I was thrilled! Of course, I got Jeff involved to photograph it, and it was an event like no other! All the models were members of DCPA and graciously volunteered their time to take part in this unique fashion show. They all wore costumes from Denver’s own costume cache, and displayed them beautifully! The production team designed the show, fitted the models, picked the music, wrote the script, and coordinated with the tech staff, caterers, and attendees to make this event a huge success.
Each model sold tickets to fill a table and decorated them in the style of what their costume was to be. This Ladies luncheon was sold-out and a riot, being MC’d by Reggie Rivers, a former Denver Bronco.
This event made me feel as though I have come full-circle with the Seawell Ballroom having bartended, attended an event, produced an event as production staff, and have attended as a vendor (at their annual wedding vendor showcase). It felt great to be behind the scenes again, doing a show…and a fun one at that!
